Our History

CPC was founded through the corporate effort of a few churches and several individuals in the Tidewater area, all of whom felt a strong calling to help women facing unexpected pregnancy by providing educational information and practical support in a caring environment.

1983: Original steering committee began praying and seeking God’s vision for a ministry that would help women unprepared for pregnancy by providing an alternative to abortion.

1984: Crisis Pregnancy Center of Tidewater became incorporated.

1985: First location opened in Virginia Beach.

1988: Second location opened in Suffolk.

1993: Third location opened in Portsmouth.

2003: CPC’s resource centers changed names to The Keim Centers. The name “Keim” is German for life-producing seed.

2004: Fourth location opened in Norfolk.

2005: First medical clinic offering limited ultrasound services opened in Norfolk.

2011: Converted resource center in Virginia Beach into CPC's second medical clinic offering limited ultrasound services.

2014: CPC's Keim Centers launched remote clinics.
